Yesterday Microsoft released the Bing Maps V1 API. This version has much more functionality than the beta version (released in Aug 2011). Taking a quick look through the new version it appears to have very close parity with the Bing Maps Silverlight control. This is great as it opens up the doors for a a lot of code reuse. The main feature that sets the WPF apart from the Silverlight control is that the touch controls work on Surface V2, thus making it a great API for creating very engaging Surface applications.
